A LITTLE DOG, A LIFETIME TOGETHER

Meet QQ.

2009 — 2 June 2026

She grew up beside me.
And she will always have a place here.

QQ was my little dog and my companion from childhood into adulthood. She loved going out, loved sausages, and had her own very particular way of doing almost everything.

THE THINGS THAT MADE HER QQ

Small stories. So much of her.

01 / A LITTLE BRAVEHEART

Shy, until she was on her own patch

QQ was easily frightened, but the streets near our home were her territory. There, she suddenly became much braver. She never really learned doggy social manners as a puppy, so she had few dog friends. Big or small, another dog was someone she wanted to rush toward.

02 / A MIDNIGHT VISITOR

She would knock on my door

When I lived at home, we shared a bed. Sometimes she wasn’t there when I fell asleep, but she would turn up in the middle of the night and knock on my door, ready to come in.

03 / JUST BETWEEN US

One trick, for one person

Over her whole life, the only trick QQ learned was giving a paw — and she would only do it for me. I used to wonder whether she wasn’t very clever, or whether she simply knew exactly who she wanted to listen to.

04 / OUR VERY QUIET ADVENTURER

The night we couldn’t find her

Once, QQ went missing overnight. She had wandered into an abandoned building. We searched everywhere and called her name, but she just stood there without making a sound.

The next day, my grandmother walked past the building and looked up. There was QQ, standing upstairs and looking down. Our silly little dog, quietly waiting while we had been searching for her.

ALWAYS PART OF HOME

So many ordinary days,
all with you in them.

The outings, the sausages, the shared bed, the knock at my door. These are the little things I want to remember.

QQ passed away on 2 June 2026. We laid her to rest in our family’s vegetable garden, one of the places she had loved visiting.

You grew up with me, QQ.
You’ll always be part of my little world.
